DESCRIPTION

In occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Liberation Day, the Marche Regional Government promoted a cultural project to research, study and preserve historical documentary sources regarding wartime and post-war events (1944/46) happened in Marche.
The project, named "Le Marche in Guerra" developed tremendously so to rise the need of giving a permanent  address to the researching group and the large quantity of material collected. Therefore a dedicated museum was set up in Offagna, the Museum of Ancona Liberation.

The museum gathers records, documents, pictures and other interesting finds regarding WW2 in our region.  Among the many touching testimonies are some original filmed clips showing air raid over Ancona and the surrounding territories.
The Ancona Liberation museum displays  also a wide selection of weapons, ammunitions and equipments used in the Italian campaign during WW2. It has also been reproduced an anti-raid shelter in memory of the devastating air raids over Ancona from October 1943 till June 1944.

Opening times:
April, 24th and 25th: 10.00 - 12.00 and 16.30 - 19.30;
May: Saturday and Sunday, 10.00 - 12.00 and 16.30 - 19.30;
June:  Monday to Friday, 17.00 - 19.00. Saturday and Sunday, 10.00 - 12.00 and  16.30 - 19.30;
From 1st July to 12th September: 10.00 - 12.00 and 17.00 - 20.00;
August:  Saturday late night, 20.00 - 23.00;
From 13th September to 3rd October: Saturday and Sunday, 10.00 - 12.00 and 16.00 - 19.00;
All year round: special opening for pre-booked groups and schools.
